Road closure (Causeway)

17 July, 2026

In the event of roadworks on the Medstead Road the road is normally closed to through traffic which is then diverted around the village. Access to the village including the village hall is normally still possible.

Causeway one.network is a platform that Highway Authorities, Utilities, and Contractors use to communicate roadworks — we don’t manage the works directly, so we’re unable to help with enquiries about specific roadworks.

We recommend contacting the organisation responsible for these works, as they will be able to provide you with information about them directly. To find out who that is:

  1. Open the works call-out on Causeway one.network
  2. Look for the ‘Responsibility for this road event’ section
  3. Click the organisation name to visit their corporate website directly

St Peter’s Church

17 July, 2026

We continue to look for a new vicar to take on the role of looking after The Parish of the Resurrection, Alton and The Parish of Bentworth, Lasham and Shalden. In the meantime our associate vicar, David Chattell, is in charge.

We continue to review the services for all the churches to ensure a sustainable pattern for our reduced Clergy team. For St Peter’s each month this means….

Week 2: 9.15am Communion Service St Peter’s Church

Week 4: 9.15am Communion Service St Peter’s Church

Please note:

  • We have a baptism on Sunday 23rd November. ALL WELCOME.
  • Carols around the Tree, Beech Village Hall, Friday 12th December at 5.30pm.
  • Christmas Communion and Carols, Sunday 14th December & Christmas Day

For details about our All Age Worship and an informal evening service, please visit the Parish website.

We continue to value contributions from all ages within the congregation. I would love to meet any newcomers to the village and I will often be found at Beech Coffee and Cake on Friday mornings in Beech Village Hall, I hope to catch up with you there, or at our Sunday services, or please call me.

If you would like a visit from a member of the Church, please contact me or a member of the clergy team. We are also grateful to have a thriving Anna Chaplaincy team who undertake home visits and lead services in residential and care homes.

St Peter’s is a lively and busy community whose members regularly worship and assist with cleaning, arranging flowers, reading lessons and prayers. St Peter’s members also play an active part in the wider Parish and can be seen organising and helping in a whole number of events and activities, many of which are advertised in the Sunrise Parish magazine and on the Parish website.

The church building in Wellhouse Road was originally built as a mission church in 1902 by Commander du Santoy Anstis RN, RNR for the Anglican community of Beech on land donated by him. The bell came from one of his early ships – the “Tagus”.

We are here to help where needed and you will receive a warm welcome.
